Medicare combined with the right Medicare Supplement (MediGap Insurance) can virtually guarantee a retired person what their total cost of health care will be in a year (minus prescriptions). The value of this is really beyond what words can express.
The much heralded Medicare Advantage plans can (and do) save some people money. I write them for this reason. However, the uncertainty surrounding these plans, the constant meddling by Congress (and others), the allowance for change every single year, and the radical differences in consumer satisfaction has led me to the point that, although I do “certify” (a very complicated and extensive unpaid use of my time – which must be repeated every year for every company so that I can best serve my clients), I believe that most are better-served sticking with original Medicare and buying a very good Medicare Supplement.
Of course, as I stated, some are better off with the Medicare Advantage programs, despite the criticisms I have of the program.
I have a very simple way of showing you which program best serves your particular needs. If you are shopping plans foryourself or a loved one, and are a California or Nevada resident, and you’d like to see, email me and I will be happy send it to you.
